  • 1 cup (250 mL) shredded lettuce

Expert Tips

  • Make your own guacamole using only 4 ingredients: Mash together 4 pitted and peeled avocados, juice of 1 lime, ¼ cup (50 mL) chopped fresh cilantro (if desired) and ¼ cup (50 mL) chopped red onion. Season with salt, and that’s all there is to it!
  • Did you know? Shredding lettuce doesn’t have to be done with a box grater. The fastest and easiest method is to use a chef’s knife. If using iceberg lettuce, first remove the core and then cut the head in half. Working with one half at a time, cut-side-down, make thin slices across the lettuce, starting from either side. The thinner the slices, the finer the shred will be.
